The ambition was to create a resource that set mentors up for success from the outset, giving them both the theoretical foundations and the practical tools to build meaningful, productive mentoring relationships. While the toolkit was designed for this specific client, it was built with wider reach in mind, ready to be made available to other organisations looking to strengthen their own mentoring culture.

At the heart of the toolkit is a SCORM-compliant learning experience structured around the who, what, why, when, where, and how of mentoring. Each section draws on six academically grounded papers on mentoring practice, distilling the research into clear, practical takeaways that mentors can apply in their day-to-day conversations. This approach gives the toolkit genuine credibility while stripping away the jargon that so often gets in the way, making it equally valuable for those new to mentoring and those looking to deepen an established practice.

One of the most distinctive features of the toolkit is its visual identity. The content is brought to life through bold, sharp cartoon-style illustrations created using AI, depicting mentoring stories, characters, and concepts in a way that feels fresh, memorable, and engaging. This storytelling approach gives the experience a strong sense of personality and makes often abstract ideas immediately relatable. It also reflects a wider design intention, which was to move mentoring training away from dry, text-heavy formats and towards something that mentors genuinely enjoy working through.

Each of the six sections is anchored by a practical model that learners can take away and use in their own mentoring relationships. These include a mentoring matrix, Venn diagrams, and clear process maps, giving mentors tangible frameworks to support their thinking and decision-making. Alongside this sits a full resources section, where learners can access the underpinning research and download a suite of practical guides, including roles and responsibilities, mentoring agreements, and supporting frameworks. This combination ensures the learning translates directly into action, rather than staying in the theoretical space.

The toolkit was intentionally designed to work for mentors at different stages of their journey. For those stepping into mentoring for the first time, it offers a confidence-building foundation grounded in evidence. For more experienced mentors, it provides a richer lens through which to reflect on and refine their practice. This dual focus has made it a versatile resource, capable of supporting mentors across the breadth of the programme.

Since launch, the toolkit has been well used by senior managers within the organisation and has served as a strong, engaging start to the wider mentoring programme. It has helped set a consistent tone and standard for mentoring across the business, while equipping individual mentors with the mindset and tools to lead meaningful relationships.

Ultimately, the project shows how research-led content, thoughtful visual design, and practical application can come together to make mentoring training genuinely compelling, and to support a new generation of mentors to do their best work.

This project was developed for Co-op Channel Islands to support the rollout of its sustainability strategy across the wider business. Sustainability had already been identified as a core strategic priority, and a face-to-face training course was in place to introduce colleagues to the key themes and expectations. The challenge was one of reach and scale. Delivering the course in person to every member of staff across the organisation was time-intensive and difficult to sustain, particularly given the geographic and operational spread of teams. The ambition was to create a digital version that retained the clarity and energy of the original, while opening it up to every colleague on their own terms.

The solution was a 20-minute baseline sustainability course, designed to give all staff a clear and confident understanding of the Co-op’s sustainability commitments and what they mean in practice. Built as a SCORM-compliant package for seamless delivery through the client’s LMS, the course was created to work equally well for frontline retail colleagues and managerial staff, recognising the different contexts in which people would engage with it. The length was intentional. Short enough to fit comfortably within a working day, but substantial enough to leave learners with a genuine grounding in the topic.

Easygenerator was selected as the authoring tool for this project, reflecting a pragmatic and client-focused approach to platform choice. While Articulate 360 remains a strong option for many projects, it is not always the right fit. The learning technology landscape offers a range of capable tools, and matching the tool to the client’s specific needs, content, and longer-term plans is part of the craft. Easygenerator proved to be sharp, efficient, and well suited to this brief, supporting ease of authoring and giving the client a clear route to updating and maintaining the content in future.

The course blends a mix of video, scenarios, activities, and explainer content to keep the experience active and engaging throughout. Rather than presenting sustainability as an abstract concept, the content is grounded in realistic situations that staff might encounter in their day-to-day roles, helping them to see where they can make a difference and how their actions connect to the wider strategy. Scenarios and activities invite learners to apply their thinking as they go, while clear explainers ensure the underlying knowledge is accessible and easy to retain.

This project was developed for the Elite Practitioner Club, a multinational training and coaching company working across sectors to deliver business coaching and strategy support. EPC operates with a broad and diverse client base, and the ambition was to build out a comprehensive suite of resources within the Elite Practitioner Club App that members could draw on whenever they needed it. The driver was scale and consistency. Bringing the depth of EPC’s expertise into a format that could be shared across the membership, accessed on demand, and refreshed easily as the business evolved.

The result is a series of 52 avatar videos, produced as a connected suite of resources for the EPC App. The content is shared across all levels of the membership, from partners and directors through to juniors and associates, giving everyone in the network access to the same high-quality coaching and strategy content. This consistency was an important part of the brief. Whether someone is running a global team or stepping into their first client engagement, they’re working from the same foundations and the same shared language of practice.

Synthesia was selected as the platform for the build, with a personal AI avatar created for the Director of EPC. This is what gives the series its distinctive presence. Members are not watching a generic stock avatar deliver content. They’re hearing the voice and seeing the likeness of the Director they already know, scaled across 52 videos in a way that would have been impossible to achieve through traditional filming. It preserves the personality of the brand at the heart of every video while unlocking the production efficiency and longevity that AI avatars offer.

The content itself was co-created with the Director of EPC, working closely to translate the depth of his thinking into scripts that worked on screen. This collaboration was critical. The videos needed to carry the substance of EPC’s coaching and strategy approach, not a watered-down version of it. Each script was then visualised through storytelling, supported by clear business models that members could take away and use in their own client work. This combination ensures the videos are not just informative, but practically useful, giving members frameworks they can apply immediately.

Production brings together the personal avatar, B-roll footage, and graphics into a polished, branded experience. Visual design lifts the content beyond a talking head, reinforcing key points and giving each video its own pace and texture. The result is a suite that feels considered, high-quality, and built for long-term use within the app.

The brief was not to create a single training course, but to lay the foundations of a learning programme that could support career pathway development from the very first step. As nuclear continues to grow as a strategic priority across the UK and globally, the need for accessible, well-structured entry points into the industry has never been greater. The bootcamp was designed to meet that need, helping people explore the breadth of the sector, find where they fit, and build their understanding across the disciplines that make it work.

The programme is delivered as a series of eight modules, each focused on a key area of the sector. Together they cover the history of the industry, nuclear science, health and safety, environment, security and safeguards, people, communications, and UK and global regulation. This breadth is intentional. Rather than narrowing learners down a single technical track, the bootcamp gives them a panoramic view of the sector, supporting both informed career decisions and the kind of cross-disciplinary literacy that the industry increasingly values.

Each module is brought to life by its own AI avatar character, with eight distinct personalities guiding learners through the content of their respective area. These characters come together within the people module, reinforcing the message that nuclear is, above all, an industry built by and around its workforce. The use of AI avatars was a deliberate creative choice, allowing for a consistent quality of delivery across a large body of content while giving each module its own identity and presence.

The structural design of the bootcamp is exploratory rather than linear. Each module is built around a central pivot, allowing learners to navigate the content in a way that suits their interests, prior knowledge, and pace. This open structure mirrors the nature of the pathways the programme is designed to support. Careers in nuclear rarely follow a straight line, and the learning experience reflects that reality.

Interactivity sits at the heart of the experience, with gamified activities woven throughout. Learners can allocate budget across security and safeguards priorities and see how their decisions play out, work through interactive timelines that bring the history of the sector to life, and tackle a bridge-building game that explores the difference between prescriptive and goal-based regulation. In the people module, they can shape their own sector journey by selecting interests and exploring where those might lead. This active, decision-led approach turns complex subject matter into something genuinely engaging, and gives learners a real sense of agency throughout.

The build process drew on deep SME knowledge from across Nuclear Consulting Limited, translating expert insight into course content, deploying it within an exploratory framework, and refining it based on testing and feedback. The result is a programme that carries the credibility of the sector while offering an experience that feels modern, accessible, and built for the way people learn today.

The bootcamp has been strongly received across the sector, with new pathways continuing to emerge and partners evolving alongside the programme. Energy forms a significant part of our portfolio, and contributing to a project of this scale and ambition has been a real privilege.

This project was developed for a regulated wealth and lifestyle financial planning firm with a workforce of around 300, working across advice, paraplanning, operations, and leadership. The brief was significant in scope and ambition. Move beyond a historic, fragmented training model and build a new L&D function and academy proposition fit for the future of the business. The driver was a recognition that learning needed to do more than tick compliance boxes. It needed to be embedded into the everyday rhythm of the firm, support the regulatory environment in which it operates, and drive measurable impact across roles and career stages.

At the heart of the work is a guiding philosophy that knowledge and understanding drive impact. Around this, a clear three-part academy structure was developed, made up of Elevate, Core, and Influence. Each strand serves a different career stage and learning need across the business, while sharing the same underlying architecture. Every part of the academy is built around three connected dimensions. Building knowledge through formal courses and training. Developing understanding in the role through mentoring and coaching. And applying that learning through structured reflection. This three-part model is what gives the strategy its coherence. It moves learning beyond the classroom and into the day-to-day work of the firm, ensuring that what colleagues learn is also what they live.

The breadth of the academy reflects the breadth of the business. Provision spans bespoke regulatory training, apprenticeships, qualification support, leadership and development pathways, mentoring and coaching, hybrid training sessions, and bespoke structured training programmes designed around specific roles and teams. Alongside this sits a strong layer of innovation, including the production of standard operating procedure videos using AI avatars, and automated reflective processes that build learning into the natural flow of work. The intent throughout is to make learning easier to access, easier to apply, and easier to sustain over time.

Our role in the project was end-to-end. We co-created the strategy with the firm, designed the courses, delivered the programmes, and worked with external partners where specialist input was needed. From the foundational thinking to the day-to-day delivery, the work has been a genuine partnership, shaped around the realities of the business and refined as the academy has come to life. Operating as the L&D arm of the firm has meant decisions are made quickly, content stays close to the business, and the strategy continues to evolve as the organisation grows.

The impact of the work has been significant. Twenty new apprenticeships have been launched, opening up structured pathways into and across the firm. Reflective learning is now embedded as part of the everyday process, supporting colleagues to apply their thinking in real time rather than as an afterthought. Around 200 colleagues have engaged with the academy to date, the new academy structure is firmly in place, and mentoring is now active at ExCo level, signalling clear leadership commitment from the top of the business.

Ultimately, the project shows how a thoughtful L&D strategy, paired with the capacity to deliver on it end-to-end, can transform how a regulated firm grows its people. By building knowledge, understanding, and application into one connected experience, the academy is helping the firm turn learning into genuine, lasting impact.

This project was developed in partnership with Kick It Out, the leading equality, diversity, and inclusion organisation in English football, as part of its ongoing campaign work to challenge discrimination across the game. Sectarianism remains a persistent issue within football and wider society, often misunderstood, frequently minimised, and rarely addressed through accessible public-facing education. The ambition was to change that. To produce a high-quality e-learning experience aimed at members of the public, particularly football fans, that opened up the topic with clarity, honesty, and practical relevance.

The course is delivered as a SCORM-compliant e-learning module, built in Articulate Rise and designed to take around 30 minutes to complete. The structure is intentionally focused, recognising that the audience is the general public rather than specialist staff or sector professionals. The experience needed to be substantive enough to do justice to the subject, while remaining accessible, time-efficient, and easy to engage with on a personal device or in a community setting.

The content covers the full picture of sectarianism in a UK and football context. It explores the history and underlying drivers of sectarianism, helping learners understand how it has shaped and been shaped by the game over time. It looks at how sectarianism shows up in language and behaviour, equipping learners to recognise it in the stadium, online, and in everyday conversation. It sets out the legal and regulatory framing, giving clarity on how sectarian conduct is treated under the law and within football’s own governance structures. And it addresses the role of bystanders and the wider responsibilities of clubs and organisations, supporting learners to think about how they and others can respond when they see sectarianism in action.

The content was shaped in close collaboration with Kick It Out’s subject matter experts, ensuring the framing, language, and messaging reflect the organisation’s deep experience in this space. Media contributions and video material from across the sector add depth and authenticity, bringing real voices and real perspectives into the experience. This combination of expert authority and lived insight gives the course its credibility and its emotional weight, making sure the issue is treated with the seriousness it deserves.

Creatively, the experience blends video, interactive activities, animation, real-world examples, knowledge checks, and downloadable resources. This variety supports different learning preferences and helps move the experience beyond passive viewing. Interactive moments invite learners to apply their thinking, knowledge checks reinforce key points, and downloadable materials provide a takeaway that supports continued reflection and conversation after the course is complete.

As part of Kick It Out’s wider campaign work, the course extends the organisation’s reach into public education, complementing its advocacy, reporting, and frontline activity within football. It gives fans, families, and community members an accessible route into a topic that has too often been left in the hands of specialists, and supports a broader cultural shift towards confronting sectarianism head-on.
